The Irish And Their Tea Pots!

The Irish and Their Tea Pots !

What is it exactly that drives our fascination with tea? Is it the taste? Is it the smell? Is it the way it inevitably leads to a ‘chat’ as we sit down and relax at the table. Or is it just simply something to do when we have nothing else to do? I think we are all probably familiar with the famous line – “Ah sure ye might as well have a cuppa tea.” A line that I find is practically impossible to refuse!

Anyone for Tea?

We started off with the traditional tea leaves, then moved on to teabags. It is fair to say that teabags have been the preferred option for most us Irish for many years now. The only tough decision we had to make was the much debated choice, Lyons versus Barry’s? Now we have to factor in the range of beautiful teapots available also, especially if we are connoisseurs of the tea leaves!

It seems that we as a nation however are getting back to our roots once more. We’re becoming very cultured again and even a bit more adventurous this time round. Teabags are simply no longer enough for us. We’ve come crawling back to tea leaves! They are slowly creeping back into households all around Ireland; Black Tea, Yunnan Tea, Assam, Earl Grey etc. etc. It seems we are developing a craving for the organic stuff! And what is more, we’re taking it from all over the globe, Japan, India, China, South America, Sri Lanka and even Africa. It seems like we’ve begun a revolution and no county is safe.

We at Irish Made Gifts understand the importance of tea to the Irish. Tea is a serious thing here. It is certainly not a laughing matter which is why we seek to adorn this practice further with our beautiful and stylish range of ceramic teapots and tea sets made by Helen Daly Kitchenware Ceramics. They are not to be missed! The design and presentation of the Blue Sea and Black Water range make them the perfect gift be it for weddings or as a gift for the tea leaf lover in your life!
